About me.

My approach is rooted in connection and curiosity.

Therapy can be incredibly vulnerable, especially when working somatically or with trauma, and I will check-in with you about our pace, our dynamic, and your needs, and encourage you to do the same for yourself. Sometimes we feel so ready for change that we want to speed through healing like some kind of obstacle course—when really, what we might need for real healing is slowing down and deepening. My style has been described as warm, gentle, and humorous.

As a somatically trained and client-centered therapist, I understand that each person keeps within them their own path towards healing and I am not the one who holds the answers to your life. I am here to accompany through times of struggle and times of joy. While I may help point the flashlight into some dark corners, you are the one who knows best what each twist and turn means for you.

What does this look like in a session? I might bring attention to changes in posture, gesture, or how you put words to memory so that we can understand how your specific form processes and expresses information. I might weave together my knowledge of your childhood and recent history to wonder with you what old wounds are asking for care and attention in the present. I might see glimmers of emotions long bottled up and gently invite them to be spoken.

As an artist, I appreciate working creatively and in the moment. Using interventions based in parts work, we can sort through emotions like a cast of characters all vying for attention. I can help you untangle complex and contradictory emotions to help realize your own unmet needs and unrecognized experiences. Sometimes it is our parts that bring us the most shame and grief that are trying the hardest to protect us from pain.

I have an M.A. in Counseling with a focus on Somatic Psychotherapy from California Institute of Integral Studies. Previously, I received an M.F.A. in Fiction from Mills College and a B.A. in English & Creative Writing from Seattle University.
